Proper Presents: SOUNDS with Hailey Orion

On July 3, we were thrilled to host musician Hailey Orion as part of our ongoing series, Proper Presents: SOUNDS—with the former Austinite joining us in The Quill Room for an intimate concert and cocktail gathering in celebration of her new EP, “You Win.”

The evening started with cocktails and canapés as Hailey welcomed friends, family, and fans into the room. The room was buzzing as she took the microphone and, standing in front of a transparent Edelweiss piano, Hailey shared more about the backstory of her new EP, explaining how each of the five songs were written after a breakup…with lyrics that came out of personal reflection and deeper exploration of themes surrounding patriarchy, gender, and relationship dynamics. 

Opening the set with the heart-wrenching ballad “Perfect Victim,” Hailey followed up with the EP’s title track and first single, “You Win.” Commanding the stage, she continued her performance with the second single, “Angry Woman” and her most recent release “Liar” before concluding the set with an unreleased track, “Blame.” Before the last song was even over, the room was in a standing ovation—an incredible ending to a powerful performance.
