Properly experience Downtown LA with a long weekend itinerary spotlighting the best of our vibrant neighborhood, including local favorites and on-property recommendations curated for making the most of 72 hours in the City of Angels.

Friday: A Rooftop Rendezvous

Kick things off with a sky-high start—after settling into your Proper guest room or suite on Friday afternoon, ascend to the Cara Cara rooftop to experience a golden hour sunset & panoramic views of the DTLA skyline. Toast to what’s ahead with any of our seasonal cocktails (we recommend the passionfruit-and-mezcal-infused Flor de Vida!) paired with Cara Cara’s evolving, Mediterranean-inspired menu. Unwind, linger, and let the energy of Downtown wash over you; the weekend has officially begun.

Saturday: Creativity & Culture

All perfect Saturdays start with brunch. Sleep in, then head downstairs to Caldo Verde for rustic California cooking from the James Beard Award-winning team of Chef Suzanne Goin and Restaurateur Caroline Styne, with daytime favorites like French toast and seasonal fruit compote; Schaner Farms’ omelets with farmer’s market vegetables; and grilled steak & eggs. After brunch, it’s time to get out and explore DTLA’s creative heartbeat, including luxury shopping in the Fashion District and stops into the Art District’s independent galleries. As night falls, the choice is yours: experience an exciting LA Kings or Sparks game at the nearby Crypto.com arena, or follow the call of the Cara Cara rooftop for another beautiful night overlooking the city.

Sunday: Sun & Self-Care

Fill Sunday with relaxation and self-care—as the city awakens, start the morning with a rooftop Vinyasa flow, then claim your spot by the pool to soak up some sunshine, catch up on a novel, or doze off. Afterward, head downstairs to experience our favorite Sunday ritual, Afternoon Tea in the intimate Dahlia cocktail lounge. Lastly, as day melts into evening, come together again at Caldo Verde for Chef Goin’s dinner menu, with dishes that marry Portuguese with inimitable Californian seasonality.
