The Proper fitness center offers three expansive, naturally lit spaces with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, equipped with state-of-the-art strength training, weight, and cardio equipment. Enjoy amenities like a cold plunge, sauna and direct access to outdoor classes such as yoga and bootcamp. Each space is reservable for private use, with options for group sessions and personalized training available upon request.

Recovery Suite

Detoxify and relax in our new Recovery Suite, a private, tranquil haven reserved for our Santa Monica guests—equipped with an invigorating hot sauna, cold plunge and red light therapy wall for the perfect post-or-pre-travel reset. Take a plunge and experience the revitalizing, circulation-stimulating benefits of contrast therapy…then step outside to the suite’s terrace to unwind, rest, and take in sun-soaked scenic views.

Yoga

Inspiring wellness and thoughtful community is part of the Proper way. Join us on the Olea or Calabra Rooftop for group classes offered daily or weekly (depending on the season). Our resident instructor Aylin is also available to lead private or group yoga, mediation, or dance classes upon request.

Group Fitness

Experience a diverse range of signature group fitness classes from our favorite local pros, complimentary for hotel guests. Our favorite class at the moment? Bootcamp on the terrace with Alex Sapot, master trainer from Barry’s Bootcamp. Interested in 1-on-1 workouts? Personal training is available upon request.

Personal Training

At Santa Monica Proper, enhance your fitness journey with personalized training sessions led by Ally, a dedicated instructor with a background in swimming, running, and triathlon. Ally holds certifications from the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) as a Level 1 run coach and NSCA-CPT as a fitness instructor. Choose from a variety of classes including HIIT, Core + Cardio, Tabata, and small group runs tailored to your fitness goals.

Outdoor Activities

Explore Santa Monica’s outdoor offerings with gear provided by Santa Monica Proper, just blocks from the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy activities such as beach volleyball, cycling with Electra and Rad Electric Fat Bikes, and relaxing with beach towels. Cruise the renowned bike path north to scenic Will Rogers State Beach, or head south through Santa Monica towards Venice and Marina Del Rey, reaching iconic surf spots like Venice Pier and El Porto.
